Today I discuss whether you should take action and buy now or wait.
It always upsets me when Realtors and brokers say that it’s always the time to buy and sell because it can’t be both. There are cycles to the market, and when you always say to buy and sell now, you don’t sound like you know what you’re talking about. I get a lot of people asking me whether they should buy now or wait. Today we’ll look at the market and answer that question.
There are more than enough reasons to buy now. Whether or not you should buy is mainly a financial decision. You have to make a calculated analysis of your finances. Are you changing jobs? Are you downsizing? Are you upset about paying taxes for schools you don’t need? If you’re ready to spend the money and there’s a financial impetus to your move, then now is a good time to buy.
It also helps that you can borrow money for under 3%. House prices went up by over 8% last year in northwest Ohio, so if you want to move to Waterville or Perrysburg, the chance to buy property there for 3% is a big reason to take action now. The cost of these low rates is higher inflation. Home prices are not going down, so if you wait and buy later, you will probably find the property you wanted to buy has increased by 8% to 30% in price.
“There are more than enough reasons to buy now.”
People ask me about what’s going to happen next year, but there’s no way to know. We’re inflating our currency at a rate never before seen in this country, and there’s a scramble to get hard assets like real estate. Some buyers are getting frustrated from making offer after offer and still losing out. Many of these buyers sit on the sidelines as the market moves on. If you want to avoid the frustration and you’re not happy with your current living situation, you should buy now.
