Both buyers and sellers can benefit from our winter real estate market.

One of the questions I currently hear often from clients is, “What should I do if I need to buy or sell in the winter?” Many people would say to wait until the spring, but our team feels differently.

If you’re considering buying, it’s a great idea to do so now. If you buy in the winter, you can frequently get a better deal. When my dad taught me how to buy a car, he said to go to the lot in late December, on a bitter night, when the snow is blowing; it’s the same for homes. When it’s freezing, snowy, and the pace and competition are lower, you’re likely to come out on top. Buyers from December through February commonly find better prices.

“Your financial situation will likely tell you that moving in our current market is the best thing to do.”

Paradoxically, if you’re thinking about selling, it’s also an excellent time because you can eliminate some risks. We don’t know what’s going to happen in 2021 in our market, with interest rates, or home values. Acting now in this market ensures that if something changes for the worse next year, you’ve already sold your house.

We have many serious buyers out in the market right now; there aren’t a lot of time-wasters. The multitude of high-quality buyers are locking in terrific interest rates. Buyers out in the winter months want to purchase, and your home will be exposed to mostly ideal buyers. There’s no reason to wait to list your property; just don’t underprice it!

Your personal situation will vary, but your financial situation will likely tell you that moving in our current market is the best thing to do. Don’t risk missing this fantastic real estate market where both buyers and sellers can benefit.

As always, we’ll help you make the best decisions, and we’re ready to guide you. If you have questions about buying, selling, or real estate in general, just call or email us. We’ll get you the right answers. If you have a question you’d like me to answer in a future video, reach out to us about that as well.
