Here’s where I’ve been and how you can prepare for a knee replacement.

I am excited to share some personal updates alongside the usual real estate news. For the past six or seven weeks, I have been absent from my video blog, and some of you may have wondered why. Well, I’ve been right here in Northwest Ohio and at the Cleveland Clinic, undergoing a total knee replacement surgery for my right knee. The procedure was necessary, and I am incredibly grateful for the support of my team, especially my dear wife and Dr. Robert Malloy at the Cleveland Clinic, who expertly performed the surgery with the help of a robot.

Though it may not be real estate-related, my experience taught me valuable lessons about total knee replacement recovery. So, if you or someone you love is facing a similar operation, here are some tips:

1. Prepare for it. Before your surgery, ensure you have everything you need at home, such as a recliner, walker, cane, and ice machine. It’s crucial to be well-prepared.

2. Line up caregiver support. Make sure you have someone to help you after the surgery. Whether it’s a spouse, a family member, or a trusted friend, having someone to assist you is vital.

3. Manage your pain. Be proactive in managing your pain. Follow your doctor’s advice, take prescribed medication (such as opioids), and don’t neglect physical therapy.

4. Be patient with your recovery. Everyone’s recovery pace is different, so don’t get discouraged if it takes time. Stay positive and stay committed to your rehabilitation.

Lastly, I encourage you to build a strong real estate team to support you in your endeavors. Honesty and treating others well are the core principles of our team, and they have served us well.
